COVID-19 Update

COVID Cancellation Policy and Credit Reminder

Upon official BVYS/FCB Registration (u9-19) we will ask for members to remit their payment. In the event that the season is cancelled due to COVID-19 on or before September 7th, 2020, all fees paid to that date will be refundable in full. In the event that the season is cancelled due to COVID-19 at any time after September 7th, 2020, a proportion of the registration fees will be refunded based on the amount of the season cancelled. FCB is currently pursuing alternative options should CSA cancel their league, allowing our players the opportunity to continue to play.

Reminder: all Spring 2020 players will receive a $125 credit for the upcoming season. This credit will be applied after registration, as our Registration platform doesn’t allow for us to put on the front end. We will reimburse you after registering on the same method of payment you submitted your registration on.

We believe that participation in the game of soccer can produce joy and fulfillment that may be found in few other places. We embrace the way the game builds strong and healthy bodies, develops the minds of young players and nurtures their emotional well-being. The Boulder Valley Youth Soccer program – a cooperative effort between FC Boulder and the YMCA of Northern Colorado – provides all players with developmentally appropriate playing opportunities. Coaches are supported through age-appropriate soccer curriculum and professional development opportunities.

Recreational Soccer (U7, COED*)
DOB: 10/1/13-9/30/14

Fall/Spring Seasons

Skill, strength, and sportsmanship. U7 Soccer provides your player with the adeptness and knowledge to build on skills with passing the ball and field awareness.  With the help of volunteer coaches, your athlete will cultivate their role as a team player and enjoy a focus on more advanced skills and athleticism–while having a ball.

We are here to foster your athlete’s passion for the sport of soccer. U7/U8 Soccer helps players progress to the next level: teams and fields are bigger, kids learn to play goalie, rules are added and when possible teams are no longer coed. It’s a big jump but your child is ready for the new challenges and new victories that come with this program, which helps them prepare for competitive or recreational leagues.

Rules and game play will be modified to allow for smaller team sizes. Teams will be split into boys and girls if registration allows.

Coed teams will play in a 4v4 format each week throughout the 6-game season. Volunteer Coaches are needed to help facilitate game play. Note: some coaches may offer an additional practice outside of game days. This is the exception, not the norm for U7 play.

U9-U19

CSA Recreational Divisions
DOB: U9 = 2011, U10 = 2010, U11 = 2009, etc.

Fall/ Spring seasons

Beginning at the U9 age group (players born in 2011 and older), teams play in the Colorado Soccer Association (CSA) Recreational Leagues. Teams transition into the CSA leagues beginning at U9 as it can be difficult to provide appropriate levels of play for all teams with an “in house” league. Entry into the CSA league is an exciting step for most players.

This CSA league is designed for those players who are looking to play in a fun, low commitment, recreational league.  Teams travel to “away” games.  Most away games are withing a 30-40 minute drive from Boulder.

  • Each team will receive 1-2 team practices per week scheduled through the league.
  • Teams are divided into Boys and Girls teams and will play an 8-game season.
  • U9-U10 teams play 7v7 and U11-U19 teams play 9v9 (including goalie).

With CSA league play, teams are determined by BIRTH year, not the school calendar. Players born in 2011=U9; 2010= U10 and so on. Players are allowed to play “up” on a team, but playing “down” is not allowed.

CSA Upper Recreational League
DOB: Birth years 2009-2001

Fall/ Spring seasons

The CSA Upper Recreational Leagues are designed for anyone wanting to continue their soccer development in a low commitment, fun recreational league. Each team will be entered into the CSA Recreational League in their correct age division. Teams are built based on players’ birth years. Leagues will be separated into Boys and Girls teams and will consist of one to two practices per week with a 9v9 (including goalkeeper) match each Saturday during the 8-game season. Coaches are paid a stipend for their time and commitment. Anyone interested in this coaching opportunity should contact Lenore Knox (tony.mortenson@fcboulder.com) and will be required to go through a short training course.

Travel time to away matches may be longer as there are often fewer teams in the upper recreational age groups. U11-U15, 30-60 minutes for most games, but there may be the occasional longer travel time. U16-U18 play in the north metro division, travel till is generally less than 45 minutes.

With CSA league play, teams are determined by BIRTH year, not the school calendar. Players born in 2009=U11; 2008=U12; 2007=U13; 2006=U14; 2005=U15; 2004=U16; 2003=U17; 2002=U18; 2001=U19 and so on. Players can play up on a team, playing down is not allowed.
